SSL/TLS — SSL और TLS क्या है और Website में इसका क्या काम है?

जब कोई Visitor आपकी Website Open करता है, तो Browser और Web Server के बीच लगातार Data का आदान-प्रदान होता है। इस Communication को सुरक्षित रखने के लिए TLS (Transport Layer Security) का उपयोग किया जाता है।

अक्सर लोग इसे SSL Certificate के नाम से जानते हैं। तकनीकी रूप से आधुनिक Websites में SSL के पुराने Versions की जगह TLS का उपयोग होता है, लेकिन Industry में “SSL Certificate” शब्द अभी भी बहुत सामान्य है।

सरल भाषा में, SSL/TLS Website और Visitor के Browser के बीच Secure और Encrypted Connection बनाने की Technology है।

SSL और TLS में क्या अंतर है?

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) पुरानी Security Protocol Technology है।

TLS (Transport Layer Security) इसका अधिक आधुनिक और सुरक्षित Successor है।

आज की आधुनिक Website Security में मुख्य रूप से TLS का उपयोग किया जाता है।

इसलिए जब हम “SSL Certificate” कहते हैं, तो सामान्यतः हमारा मतलब ऐसा TLS Certificate होता है जो HTTPS Connection को Enable करने में मदद करता है।

SSL/TLS कैसे काम करता है?

जब कोई User:

Open करता है, तो Browser और Server के बीच Secure Connection Establish करने की प्रक्रिया शुरू होती है।

Server अपना Digital Certificate प्रस्तुत करता है। Browser Certificate की जानकारी और Trust को Verify करता है। इसके बाद दोनों पक्ष Secure Cryptographic Keys Establish करते हैं और Communication Encrypted Connection के माध्यम से जारी रहती है।

सरल Flow:

Browser → TLS Handshake → Certificate Verification → Secure Keys → Encrypted Connection → Website

SSL/TLS Certificate क्या है?

SSL/TLS Certificate एक Digital Certificate होता है जो किसी Domain की पहचान और Secure Connection से संबंधित Cryptographic Information प्रदान करता है।

Certificate में Domain Name और Certificate Authority से संबंधित जानकारी हो सकती है।

उदाहरण:

example.com

के लिए Certificate जारी किया जा सकता है।

अगर Certificate सही तरीके से Configure है, तो Browser Website को HTTPS के माध्यम से Secure Connection पर Access कर सकता है।

SSL/TLS की जरूरत क्यों होती है?

SSL/TLS Website Communication को सुरक्षित बनाने में मदद करता है।

यह विशेष रूप से महत्वपूर्ण है जब Website पर:

Login
Registration
Contact Forms
Customer Information
E-commerce
WooCommerce
Online Payments

जैसी सुविधाएँ हों।

Encryption क्या है?

Encryption का मतलब Data को ऐसे रूप में बदलना है जिसे बिना सही Cryptographic Key के आसानी से समझा नहीं जा सके।

उदाहरण के लिए, User Website पर कोई Sensitive Information भेजता है। TLS Secure Connection उस Communication को Network पर सुरक्षित तरीके से Transfer करने में मदद करता है।

इससे Network Communication को Interception से बचाने में सहायता मिलती है।

HTTPS और SSL/TLS का संबंध

इन दोनों को समझना बहुत जरूरी है।

TLS Secure Communication के लिए Security Protocol है।

HTTPS HTTP का Secure Version है, जो TLS का उपयोग करता है।

सरल भाषा में:

TLS → Secure Communication Technology

HTTPS → Secure Website Connection

इसलिए:

का मतलब है कि Website HTTP के ऊपर TLS-based Secure Connection का उपयोग कर रही है।

cPanel में SSL/TLS

अगर आपकी Hosting cPanel देती है, तो SSL/TLS से संबंधित Options cPanel में उपलब्ध हो सकते हैं।

सामान्यतः आपको:

cPanel → Security → SSL/TLS

या SSL Status जैसे Options दिखाई दे सकते हैं।

इनसे Certificate की स्थिति और उपलब्ध SSL/TLS Settings को Manage किया जा सकता है।

Hosting Provider के अनुसार Options अलग हो सकते हैं।

SSL/TLS Certificate के प्रकार

SSL/TLS Certificates को Validation और उपयोग के आधार पर अलग-अलग प्रकारों में देखा जा सकता है।

DV Certificate — Domain Validation

यह मुख्य रूप से Domain Control Verify करता है और सामान्य Websites के लिए काफी Common है।

OV Certificate — Organization Validation

इसमें Organization से संबंधित अतिरिक्त Validation हो सकती है।

EV Certificate — Extended Validation

इसमें अधिक विस्तृत Organization Validation Process हो सकती है।

Certificate Type का चुनाव Website और Organization की जरूरत पर निर्भर करता है।

SSL/TLS और WordPress

WordPress Website में SSL/TLS Configure होने के बाद Website को HTTPS पर चलाया जा सकता है।

उदाहरण:

https://example.com

इसके बाद WordPress में Website URLs भी HTTPS के अनुसार Configure किए जा सकते हैं।

साथ ही Images, CSS, JavaScript और अन्य Resources में HTTP URLs की जाँच करनी चाहिए ताकि Mixed Content की समस्या न हो।

SSL/TLS और WooCommerce

WooCommerce Website में SSL/TLS विशेष रूप से महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि इसमें Customer Accounts, Login, Checkout और अन्य Sensitive Website Communication हो सकती है।

Payment Processing के लिए इस्तेमाल होने वाले Third-Party Payment Providers की अपनी Security और Compliance Requirements भी होती हैं।

इसलिए केवल SSL/TLS को Payment Security का पूरा समाधान नहीं समझना चाहिए।
